Workshop: Scientific Communication

What is scientific communication - and what's it got to do with me? How can I transport what I want? Why should I want it anyways?

In fact, scientific communication is part of the daily life of a researcher - on scientific congresses or in teaching, in your own research blog and in science slams, or with your grandmother on the sunday coffee table.

KlarText awardee Anna Stöckl and SMARTSTART alumni Jens-Steffen Scherer introduce you to the very different formats of scientific communication. Special guests share their experiences and give insights in their daily life.

Eager for more? Bring your own abstract and there we go!

Excursion: Biomimicry

Ever wanted to sneak through a museum at night time? This dream is coming true now! Join neuroscientist Beed Prateep from Biomimicry Germany for a night time stroll through evolution in the Museum für Naturkunde.

Nature has evolved highly complex and surprising solutions to face all kinds of challenges. This workshop invites you to take a deeper look behind the patterns and principles in flora and fauna - and approach modern challenges with the wisdom of 3.8 billion years of evolutionary success!

Register via mail to

The meeting has a limited capacity and SMARTSTART alumni take precedence over other students and researchers. After July 01, 2020, all interested students and researchers can register for the talks on a first come, first serve basis.

Contribution of presentations or posters as well as participation in the excursion and the workshop "Scientific Communication" are exclusive for SMARTSTART alumni! Dinner and pubquiz on Monday evening are exclusive for alumni and Faculty members.

Participation is free of charge.
